Privacy Policy

July 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SKIPPD (provided by Bytellar) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you sign in, record lectures, import audio files, generate transcripts, capture boardwork, create key points and flashcards, and review your study history.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information required to provide the product:

  • Account information: your name, email, avatar, and sign-in identifiers used to access the app.
  • Study content: lecture recordings, audio files you import or share into the app, transcripts, speaker labels, photos of boardwork and handouts, AI-generated key points and flashcards, timetables, lecture titles, and related history metadata.
  • Study records: flashcard mastery, review scheduling, and exam-prep plans used to organise your reviews.
  • Preferences: recognition language, daily review reminder times, notification choices, wake phrase, and other product choices you make in the app.
  • Billing and credits data: your subscription status, credit balance, top-up purchase records, and usage ledger needed to operate paid features.
  • Technical and diagnostic data: app version, device model, operating system, crash logs, performance events, and device push tokens used to keep the service stable and deliver notifications.
  • Support information: any message, screenshot, or reproduction detail you share when asking for help.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

  • Authenticate your account and keep sessions secure
  • Record lectures and convert speech into transcripts
  • Recognise boardwork and handouts, extract key points, and generate flashcards
  • Schedule daily reviews and exam-prep plans along a memory curve
  • Sync your courses, lectures, and study records across supported devices and sessions
  • Improve reliability, quality, and accuracy of the service
  • Respond to support requests and protect the service from abuse

3. Permissions

SKIPPD requests the following permissions and system capabilities only when they are needed:

  • Microphone: to record lectures, create transcripts, and — when voice activation is turned on — listen for your wake phrase while the app is in the foreground
  • Speech recognition: to transcribe audio on your device when on-device transcription, offline fallback, or voice activation is used
  • Camera: to capture boardwork and handwritten notes, and to recognise text in those photos
  • Notifications: to alert you when transcription, key points, and flashcards are ready, to send daily review reminders at the times you choose, and to send credit and subscription updates
  • Background audio: to keep recording while the app is in the background or the screen is locked
  • File access and sharing: to import audio and course files you pick or share from other apps, and when you export, download, or share saved records
  • Siri, Shortcuts, widgets, and Live Activities: to start or control recording from outside the app and show recording status on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island

4. Service Providers and Processing

We may use trusted providers to operate key parts of the product, such as authentication, speech-to-text, text recognition, AI content generation, hosting, and diagnostics. These providers process information only as needed to deliver the feature you use.

5. Data Retention

We retain account details while your account is active. Lecture recordings, transcripts, recognised boardwork, key points, and flashcards are kept until you delete them, remove your account, or retention is otherwise limited by policy or law. Diagnostic logs may be retained for a shorter period for security and troubleshooting.

Some content is also stored locally on your device, such as recordings that have not been uploaded, downloaded audio copies, and local copies of generated content. Removing a record from the cloud does not delete these local copies — they remain on your device until you delete the record entirely or uninstall the app.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including secure transport, access controls, and service monitoring, to protect account and study data. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk and respond quickly to operational issues.

7. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may be able to:

  • Review, update, or delete saved lectures and study records
  • Request access to account-related information
  • Close your account or ask for deletion where applicable
  • Manage language, notification, and related in-app preferences
  • Turn auto sync on or off — when sync is off, new recordings stay only on your device and cannot be recovered if the app is uninstalled

8. Children's Privacy

SKIPPD is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the service, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will publish the latest version in the app and on this site, and update the effective date shown above.
